It Has Begun...Officially

Today is our first day completely out of the old house and the first day in the new old house! The stress of going between two houses, making sure the old rental house meets the landlords standards so we could get our deposit back, and finding anything in the mess of an unpacked house has come to an END! I have decided that moving is a love hate relationship. You start off loving it and are eager and excited to get some place new. Then as you get down to the nitty-gritty you begin to wonder how you accumulated so much stuff and are ready to donate any last thing you see. Now I'm back to loving it. Putting a home together is so much fun!

Steven is on cloud 9. He woke me up at 2am this morning telling me that he was about to tear down a wall! The anticipation is killing him. I talked him out of it...for now.

Steve and I have made a commitment that as we fix up this house we will pay as we go. Tonight we made our first big trip to Home Depot. It was our original plan to knock out the wall, but being that it is load bearing we need an engineer to come and give us a PSI, so we know how many LVLs we will need. Sounds Greek...huh! So glad it makes sense to Steven. So tonight we got doors and floors! I'm super excited about both of them!

The doors are beautiful with an eyebrow raised panel at the top. The knobs are oil rubbed bronze and they are more like levers. In case you ever wanted to know door hard ware cost more than the door slab. Steve is excited to trim the door ways out. He has ideas...

The flooring we bought is for the 3 bedrooms and the hallway. It will eventually go into the living room, dining room, and den. We got hardwood woven bamboo that is absolutely beautiful!

Once we start installing all of these I will post the before and after pictures.

Tonight, as I watch Steven so excited and the eve of Fathers Day I'm feeling abundantly blessed to have such an amazing, talented man in my life who is my companion, father to my children, and best friend. I'm excited for this journey together!
